Some readers will know Terry and Curtis, who lived and worked here for EI in Pader in the past. Terry was here for 13 months, and Curtis for 4, in 2010. They both were extremely loved by the community. We still meet perfect strangers who confuse Mike for Terry, or tell us they were friends with Terry and Curtis.
Every morning we shared staff devotions together, and were blessed by Curtis’ wonderful gift of guitar playing. It was a wonderful time of bonding and refreshment, for us and for the staff, as well as for our visitors – in particular for Terry who is currently working in a closed Muslim territory and does not have frequent opportunities to meet and share in worship with other Christians.
Another highlight was that Terry was able to do some personal evaluation of how the ministries have progressed since he left in December 2010, and share with us some valuable insights as well as organizational knowledge. He helped us understand better some of the history of the office here in Pader, and showed us where some key information and documents are filed within the office. He also flagged some issues that are still unresolved from the past, so that they won’t be forgotten but stay on the table for discussion as we move forward in our strategic planning with the office staff.
Curtis brought with him many goodies from Canada for us! There were a few requested items that he brought along for us – including a Kindle from Mike’s parents to replace the Kobo that was accidentally broken during our flight (thank you Dave and Evita!!), and some sundries and food items graciously provided by Curtis’ family. But it didn’t stop there! Curtis’ family also sent us Easter gifts and various *other* prized food items (such as a huge container of real Canadian Maple syrup!), and Curtis also brought greetings and gifts from our Young Adults fellowship at Bayview Glen Church. Marianne was so overwhelmed with excitement that she literally jumped up and down. A BIG thank you to everyone who sent their wishes and gifts!! It *so* encouraged us!
We thank Terry and Curtis so much for coming back to Pader! We are so blessed that you would come and help connect us with more people in the community, and lift up the hearts of the staff here with your presence. God bless you guys!
