Here's a video showing some of what this wonderful day was like! Hope you enjoy!
In July, we celebrated 5 years of marriage! The blue card you see in the middle is the 5th card in a series of 10 that were given to us at one of Marianne's bridal showers. It was a very neat idea, where the people in attendance wrote messages on 10 cards, to be opened over 10 years. We're already half-way! Where does the time go?? The day after our anniversary was a special milestone day at Pader Girls Academy as well. Each year, an election is held by the members of the Scripture Union, and new leaders are elected. Then a big handover celebration is held. This was the first handover celebration Marianne ever organized, and she was nervous that the girls would be disappointed. But it was a wonderful, "colourful" day (as our friends here would say!). Mike was there too, giving up his whole Saturday to help give A/V support and pop out for emergency trips - like going to the market for green peppers and garlic! Here's a video showing some of what this wonderful day was like! Hope you enjoy!

We love living in Pader, but one thing we sorely miss here is flowers. So whenever we leave Pader, the first thing we look for is flowers. A few months ago, we bought some seeds and planted some flowers in our own compound. So far, we've only had 2 flowers come out. Here is a picture of our very first flower. Other parts of Uganda are full of flowers - and they are amazingly diverse. Marianne has taken a new interest in photographing flowers. She's been busy taking pictures of flowers over the course of our travels, and wanted to share this video with you, to display God's wonderful handiwork. (Note that a few photos were taken by Dave Botting when Mike's parents visited in July 2013). The song chosen, Jon Foreman's "In the House of God Forever", based on Psalm 23, reflects the peace that flowers bring, and the trust that heaven is going to be full of these flowers, and many, many more. We hope you enjoy! |
