It was really *such* a lovely time. It was our first time seeing any family members in the one and a half years since we left home. We met them at the airport in Entebbe and then set out the next morning for Jinja, which is the source of the Victorian Nile river. (Did you know it takes 3 months for the water to get from Jinja to the Mediterranean Sea?). We moved around to some different sights on the way up to Pader, where we spent 5 days, before heading down the Eastern route to Sipi Falls and full circle to Jinja.
Pader was a highlight, because Dave and Evita were so warmly welcomed by our friends and co-workers. Parents are given such honour in Acholi culture. We felt humbled by the reception they were given, and challenged to think about how our own culture could learn from the Acholi about showing respect to parents. We were also so proud of Dave and Evita, for being so flexible and open to new experiences.
