Following a church service where people gathered to pray for the country of Uganda, we headed off to a village near Lira Palwo, to celebrate Ugandan Independence Day with the family of our co-worker and friend, Milly.
We didn't see any lions that day...haha!
At Milly's step-mother's home, we also saw 2 structures we've never seen before. The first was the house you see us all sitting in, in the photos above. It is a round house with a grass roof, but unlike anything we've seen in our area. It was very large, with nice decorative brickwork, a good concrete floor, very high ceilings, and very strong windows and doors. Here's an outdoor photo.
(It should be noted that Acholi have separate houses constructed for the parents, for children, for cooking, and sometimes for receiving visitors).
