So we have a lot of catching up to do! We have a backlog of posts going all the way back to November, so I think it's time for a whirlwind catch up for some big events in the last two and a half months: Marianne's BirthdayThe first big event of the last few months was Marianne's birthday (reaching way back to November!). We had a fun time celebrating her birthday with some of her closest girl friends in Pader (with Tom and Mike and Elias representing the men). Not all were able to make it, but it was a blessing to share that day with (above, from left to right): Milly, who works with us in the Pads ministry; Concy, who Marianne is mentoring as the staff helper of the Scripture Union of Pader Girls' Secondary School; and Grace, who is a close friend and prayer partner. Close female friends were a prayer request for Marianne in our first few years here, so it was a testimony to God's goodness that there are enough now to make up a birthday party! In other notable news, it was also Elias' first taste of cake (baked by Mike, so that we could enjoy a more western style cake): So Elias had his first taste of birthday cake, but he didn't have to wait long for his second taste! Elias' First BirthdayWe celebrated Elias' first birthday in Kampala, where we were staying over the Christmas and New Years break. He was a bit overtired by the time we got to his birthday cake, so he didn't get quite as much enjoyment from it as he did from Marianne's, but he did enjoy opening presents and playing with balloons! But between those two birthdays we had Christmas too (like I said, a lot of catch up!) Elias' First ChristmasWe tried to add some Christmas touches to our Kampala Christmas celebration, with a mini Christmas tree and some Santa hats. We really enjoyed celebrating Christmas with Elias: opening presents, playing with new toys (and wrapping paper...), and sharing food and fellowship with others. We also really enjoyed a Christmas Eve get together with our Country Directors (Paul and Anita Bertrand) and some of their Kampala friends. We had a wonderful spread of food, singing carols and worship songs, and lots of fellowship. Thanks for sticking with us through our blog post hiatus, and now the barrage of photos that will (hopefully) catch us up soon!
