This short documentary by Eric Nowak really captures the work of Emmanuel International in Northern Uganda - and hence what we will be joining in with.
It's about 7 minutes long...a worthwhile watch!

Some may remember that we posted a video a couple months ago and then took it down, since it was not yet ready to be released. Well, it is released now. This short documentary by Eric Nowak really captures the work of Emmanuel International in Northern Uganda - and hence what we will be joining in with. It's about 7 minutes long...a worthwhile watch!

Just this past weekend, we had the delight of seeing our friends Steve and Gloria get married in Hamilton. It was a bright, beautiful, warm sunny day, with gorgeous fall colours all around. Of course, brighter than the sun beamed the bride and groom (aw! - but it's true!). The church was filled with joy, as we all watched them make their commitment to one another, sensing God's presence and blessing upon the proceedings. True to Steve and Gloria's personalities, the wedding at times broke out into some casual moments. One particularly good one (which we sorrily did not capture on film) was during the reading of the vows. Steve read his vows, heart felt and full of love, ending with, "I love you Gloria. Let's get married!" The congregation laughed, but then laughed harder when Gloria half pushed - half slapped Steve across the chest. She then read her vows, which ended in, "I love you Steve. Let's get married!" We all thought at the time she had just ad-libbed the ending, but as it turns out, the reason behind the slap-push was that he stole her line! The reception was held at Ancaster Fairgrounds - a very beautiful facility, as you can see. Unfortunately, Google Maps failed us, as it gave us an exit name that didn't exist. We turned around on the 403 when we hit Brantford, and took a chance on the exit where Mike thought (approximately) our destination should be - and he was right! We exercised some polite rebellion at the wedding reception, as we were placed at a table across the room from our friends! We say politely because Marianne took great care to make introductions followed by "We're very sorry!" and "I'm sure you'd be lovely people the sit with", as Mike and our friend Shannon made away with our place setting and chair and re-located us at the "LAMO table" (former roommates and friends of people who lived at LAMO BAY, of course!)
God bless you, Gloria and Steve! |
