So we're a little behind on posts...but before we hop into our update about our Nova Scotia visit last month... MERRY CHRISTMAS! So from Nov 17-21, we were in Dartmouth visiting with Marianne's mother's side of the family. We had a chance to see everyone we wanted to see. It's always hard to say "so long", but we had some nice memories together. One memory was Poppie showing us his amazing fiddling skills. You can see them for yourself here! (Note that a nice "side blessing" was that Marianne's dad was down for work and we all got to have supper together). While we were there, Nannie and Poppie also celebrated their wedding anniversary. We went out to celebrate (actually, it was a treat officially for Nannie's *birthday* at the Palladium. The food was wonderful! We also had supper at Marianne's Aunt Cindy's house. She was so pleasantly surprised by an early rendition of "Happy Birthday" and a marble birthday cake. Yum! And of course, there were goodbyes. Here are some of the last pictures taken with Marianne's family.
Our first week of November was spent in Camby, Indiana learning all about CHE (pronounced "chay"). CHE is short for "Community Health Evangelism" or "Community Health Empowerment" and is a ministry model for community development.
It was a really wonderful training, with a great group, and some wonderful "aha!" moments. At the end, we were just really excited to go out and apply what we learned. Here are some pictures of the training - 6 days of intense, adult-style learning with 30 other classmates from all over the world! |
