Back in September, while Tom and Marianne were in Kampala attending a conference, I (Mike) went with a team of facilitators to Kalongo TOT1.
It's hard to believe that September is already so far in the past! I hope it's true what they say, better late than never, because this update is now two months overdue! Back in September, while Tom and Marianne were in Kampala attending a conference, I (Mike) went with a team of facilitators to Kalongo TOT1. This was our first experience doing a TOT without both Marianne and myself. It was a stretching experience, but it was also a good opportunity. One of our goals for this year and the coming year is to develop a team of five or six local facilitators, from among the CHE Trainers we have trained, who are able to run the CHE TOTs by themselves. So I went with our CHE Coordinator Rev. Patrick, Tonny (who has translated for us in past TOTs), and Filder (who was facilitating for the first time). We were so happy with how the TOT went. There were some hiccups at the start, but Rev. Patrick, Filder, and Tonny did very well at facilitating the lessons. There was a very good spirit during the training, the CHE Trainers who came had a real heart for the Lord, and the CHE Trainers were singing hymns and praise songs in every break. We feel blessed to have such a great team of people to work with, and we're looking forward to future TOTs where we will get more opportunities to let the new local facilitators take the lead. Kalongo is the fifth group of Trainers we have trained. The next TOT (out of 3) will be this coming December. Marianne is looking forward to meeting the Trainers she hasn't met yet!
