We have called it "Cweyo" Day (pronounced CH-WAY-OH). "Cweyo" is an Acholi word that means "to create" or "to weave". We have always liked the picture that it is God who weaves or knits families together. And so, we wanted to institute a day in our family where we will celebrate, with all our children (as God keeps weaving!), the wonder of God's creation of our family.
To commemorate the day, we have made a video of Elias' first year with us. We are also having a celebratory lunch with the people Elias knows best. And what is a party without a cake? (Incidentally, "cweyo" also has a second meaning, which is "to fatten"...also appropriate for a day when we eat cake!).
