Currently, we've completed two "TOTs" (Training of Trainers) with our first set of to-be CHE Trainers. The whole training process takes about 5 months, and requires those in training to come to 3 full weeks of training and to go home and implement what they've learned in between the training weeks.
Our first set of CHE Trainers are from 4 different areas in the archdeaconry (the first of 9 divisions in the Kitgum Diocese). Between TOT1 and TOT2, we had the opportunity to visit the CHE Trainers in their home areas.
Each place we went was different. First we went to Odum, which is "deep in the village", as our staff would say. After a couple wrong turns and some very bad roads, which would not have been passable if it happened to be raining, we felt a little bit embarrassed that it took us almost as long to reach the village in a vehicle as our CHE trainers take to travel by bicycle! We were received not only by the CHE trainers but by Rev. Joska's intercessory prayer group. The joyful welcome was overwhelming!
Charles told us a story about reconciling with his neighbour, after he was convicted of the need for reconciliation based on a verse which was shared in TOT1 (Luke 10:27). At first his neighbour refused his apology. Then, after some time, seeing how Charles was acting differently to him and to others, he asked, "Why are you doing all these things?" Charles' response was that God had transformed him through attending CHE TOT1!
