This past week marked the first of 3 week-long trainings (a.k.a. CHE TOT1) in Patongo. It was the first-ever CHE training that we have hosted away from Pader. It was also the first TOT that we have held since Rev. Patrick has taken up the post of CHE Coordinator. We are very thankful to report it was a great success! Here's a "selfie" that wasn't so successful of the 4 facilitators...Alfred (CHE Trainer from Agago), Rev. Patrick, Mike, and Marianne. We had a very good group of people come out to take part in the training. Two people were missing, and we hope they will be able to join in on TOT2, and then get TOT1 from the next place we go (which should be Kalongo). As always in CHE, there was teaching... ...and group work... ...and activities... ...and lesson planning... ...and praising... (for people viewing via email, click here) ...and dramas... (this post is already long, so check the next post to see!)... ...and interruptions by rain (we needed to stand close together to hear one another)... ...and good food! (These 3 ladies were the hard-working cooks who kept us well fed during the week). We always make new friends when we meet a new group of trainers, but Marianne made a special one this time. This is John, the son of Irene (the cook pictured in the middle above). Mike finally got his first lesson how to drive a motorbike! (Don't mind the no helmet...he was just puttering around the school. I know, I know, that's no real excuse...). And it seems with every group, there ends up being at least one CHE Trainer sent who did not know Jesus as their personal Lord and Saviour when they came to us. We praise God that Sulina made her mind up to follow Jesus on the last day! Thanks so much to everyone who prayed for TOT1. Pray that God will continue to infuse the Trainers with the vision of a transformed and healthy community as they continue with their assignments and come back for TOT2 in June!
